Recording
'Reclaiming Space' - (page 3)
As is customary
recording started with the laying down of the drum tracks. Good
job we did, as the presence of the drummer proved a culinary godsend.
Not only did Mike bring with him the kit and the skills to hit some
rock solid beats, but also an ingenious idea that would fill our
stomachs during the entire making of the album. Who knew that one
could survive on microwavable rice and tons of tins of tuna without
getting a single complaint from one's taste buds? Granted, the stuff
was nowhere near the gourmet food of the restaurant next door but
it was quick, convenient and generally edible. In fact the only
work I would be giving the chef next door would come later and it
had nothing to do with pots and pans. He would eventually play the
radio announcer on 'Camara Reggae' after David thought his accent,
acquired from living off the island, would make him a suitable candidate
for the job.
